Default Coolant By-pass Hose

Just curious - has anyone replaced their coolant by-pass hose as preventative maintenance? Has anyone experienced a failure of their coolant by-pass hose? How many miles/years were on the factory hose for both cases? I'm wondering if it would make sense to replace it if you already have the engine torn-down to replace the valve cover gaskets. Thanks.

If you are in there give it a serious consideration. When I did the knock sensors, I chose not to. The hose had no bulging and the no leaks around the clamps.

This is for the 1MZ-FE engine in my 99 Avalon but it should be of some benefit here. I just replaced the No 1 Coolant Bypass Hose at 12 1/2 years/112k miles. Only did it because I was doing the valve cover gaskets. Inspired by Code58, I cut the old hose apart to give it a good look-see. No cracking, bubbles or soft spots. I believe that hose would go another 12/112k without breaking a sweat.
