I received a letter from Lexus

Daddy-O, that's the 8 year warranty letter that is the culmination of the (pardon the pun) stink re oil gelling/sludge in the T/L V6, which extended over several years. Edmunds RX and Toyota Sienna boards were all eaten up with it a couple of years ago. Try this link:

what about those of us who bought used rx's?
I did alot of reading about this and I hope this warranty will go from 8 years from original purchase, I have a 2000 and worry about this happening. My service dep. says I dont have anything to worry about as all the maintenance was done and the oil was changed reg. but I read stories where is did not matter and Toyota gave these people some real grief over getting it resolved. Any rx owners have this happen to them?

I've seen copies of these letters to other people...I just thought I'd post mine.
I have to change my oil this week.
I'll take my OEM filter and 5qt. jug of Mobil 1 down to the Toyota dealer and write a check for $8.60.
15K Service is due next after this oil change...Argh.

well like i have posted before, my 1999 has had every maintance in the book including the extras like trans oil change and differential oil, etc. mines locked up at 45000 miles, the only good part was LEXUS was extremely helpful and paid for everything, including towing and any other expense you have because of the engine locking up. it did take 6 weeks to fix though and they said they only fix it once! what if it happens again is what i want to know? also my service rep told me it is better to completely lock up the motor like i did (on the highway at 85 mph) than to get it fixed if the sludging starts but doesnt kill the motor. if it locks up you get a completely new motor, if they can fix yours they will, so you dont get a new motor just your old one cleaned up.
