I have seen some posts on replacing the struts on an RX (outstanding and informative I might add). I was wondering if anyone had a parts list for this. I have a 99 RX300 AWD that I am replacing the rear struts only (right now). I went to Oreilly and they have KYB for 143 each, along with the bracket that is 46.99 each. They did not carry the springs, so I called the Lexus dealership and each spring is 153.00 each. I am going to be tackling this job soon but I want to make sure I have everything needed and that I can get it all at a decent price.

On a different note, there is a control arm in the rear that has a rubber bushing that is now bonded to the rust. Does anyone have a place where I can get a new bushing or again a reasonable replacement for these?

On a different different note, the speed sensor on the rear wheel is rusted in place, I have already broken the bolt off and will need to re-tap but the sensor itself will not budge. Any suggestions? Lots of stuff, thank you all for your assistance!

the springs should be fine. Kyb are a lot cheaper online...Rock Auto.com, Etc. Try this site from sewel lexus which if you create an account with them and mention Club Lexus you will get a discounted price.

As for all the rust try some penetrating oils....be very carefull on the speed sensor, it is quite expensive.

Like thomas1 mentioned, but the struts online they are much cheaper.

Also, the springs don't need replacing. They should good for the life of the car.

For the strut mount, stick with OEM.

+1 on the parts list request. About to replace rears and fronts (will be using KYB struts, OEM mounts, Lexmex's plastic tube lower spring isolator method). Question is whether the other bits highlighted in below also need to be replaced?

48341A/48341B, bumper stop, that I would consider getting because I have seen photos of those that can rot, but they should last. the other ones you can skip.

48157B/C, These can rip after a while, I still have my originals
90903-63014, I am still on my originals, but many people, if they have to replace one part up top, replace this one.

When I changed all my struts with the KYB struts and mounts I did change all my sway bar links as well. The sway bar links are connected to the struts and they were such a pain to get off I'm glad I has new ones. The KYB mounts aren't the best. +1 on sticking with the OEM strut mounts as mentioned before. The difference in the ride of the car will be amazing once you replace all the struts!

KYBs went in this weekend. Happy with the results. Corners flatter now - a little less floaty. Small road imperfections are felt less. Not a night and day difference, but definitely an improvement.

Guys i just got my KYB GR2 struts for the rear from Amazon.com last week for $89.00 total for both, delivered in two days. (334263/264). And if you planning a DIY go to Harbor Fright and get the MacPherson Strut Spring Compressor for $20.00 a life saver. All you need is a 15/16 socket, works like a charm. Since this was my first time it took me an hour and half to do the driver side, then 35 mins to do the other side. Same myself a ton of money thanks to Lexmex step by step instructions. You the man LEX!!!!!!!!
