Default $556 for 4 Michelin CTs, 225/70/16, mounted w/ lifetime rotate/balance/road hazard?

Is $556 a good price for a set of 4 Michelin Cross Terrain 225/70/16 tires?

The following are included in the deal:

4 Michelin Cross Terrain 225/70/16 tires
local sales tax
old tire disposal fee
4 new valve stems
mounting/balancing,
lifetime free rotation/balancing
road hazard protection

Thanks for any suggestions...

The local Costco gave me that price. However, they need 3 days
to get the tire in, so I went down to the local Merchant's Tire
Center.

The manager at Merchant's matched that price immediately and
the Cross Terrains were IN-STOCK!

One hour later, I drove off Merchant's lot in a set of new Cross
Terrain tires. All I couldn say was "OH MY GOD!" These tires
are real fantastic, compared to the original Bridgestone Dueler
H/Ts supplied by Lexus!

Default Michelins @ TireRack

The local Costco quotes $130 for the 235s, while TireRack has them for $85. Even with shipping the cost for 5 tires shipped is $480, and Costco would mount them for $9 each ie, $45 for all 5 wheels. I am looking at a total of $525 installed.

According to their (Costco) compatibility guide (some Bridgestone software) they said I could also upsize to 235 or 255/65 but the guy said the 255 would rub while turning because of the width. I am gonna try another Costco to see if they will install the 255s for me. Unfortunately the 245 is not an option

It seems Costco is going to have a similar promotion like earlier in Jan again but TireRack's price is too tempting. I will go to the local Discount Tire and see if they will trade in my old tires AND pricematch.

Tire Rack will provide you with a local dealere who will accept a drop shipment. All you have to do is ask them how much to mount and balance.

It might be easier than finding a local dealer to match prices.

Based on info here I purchased 4 235/70SR16 CT's at NTB for $400 mounted and balanced with warranty.

I just showed them the ad for $70 from onlinetires.com. They added $15 for difference in shipping cost and $14.95 for mounting and balancing. Used the existing stems.

Now the Lexus rides with better feeling for the road, but tires are more truck-like and clunk over potholes.

Question

After reading all the post regarding the 235/70-16 Michelin CT's, I called TireRack and tried to order a set, but I was told that this size tires would rub on the rear strut? Is this true?

Toncar

I have been driving a set of 235/70s for a month and have noticed no rubbing.

Post Michelin CTs from TireRack

Based on these posts, I jumped on in and ordered 4 Michelin CTs in the 235 width from TireRack in December '02. They were on sale -- $354 delivered. Took them to a local shop that TireRack pointed me to who did the mount/balance and old carcass disposal for $60.

Some notes after 30 days:
The tires do indeed roughen the ride somewhat
There is no rubbing on the rear struts with the 235s
Snow and ice traction is far better than the Integritys

2000 RX

Default MCTs for $70

OnlineTires was down for a while is back up again. I ordered 5 of these 235/70/16 for $70 ea and $70 shipping (from LA to Seattle). He said the shipping was on the higher side because the tires were heavier than most.

Compared to $107 from TireRack and $115 from Costco (130+Tax-installation-discount), this is a very good deal!

I have 4 Goodyear Integrity's with about 40-50% tread left. Any suggestions on what to do with those?
