how many miles do you get on a full tank?

When I get some time later this week, but I plan to do some maintenance on my vehicle to hopefully bump it up over 20+ mpg, it's 19.6 last time I checked, but on the highway, been getting 24 to 27 mpg on longer trips across Florida. When I have taken trips out of state, get much better gas mileage with non-ethanol gas in other states.
I've been able to get 25 once, but I was driving the speed limit (65) = no fun. Usually I get 23-24mpg, which isn't bad considering newer suv's can barely yield that much (non-hybrids).

It's not so much how fast I drive, but if I use either cruise control or more often keeping my foot constant on the accelerator. When I came back from Mexico to Florida (via Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama), I was getting 27+ with a full load and my father and all my belongings.

Lower speed helps, to a point, but my wife following me while I was driving the 40' diesel-pusher motorhome, think 0-60 in less than a minute, but just barely less, was getting 31-32 MPG for multiple tanks.
Top speed of about 60, and for an automobile, barely noticeable acceleration forces. This was from Vegas to Denver, BTW, not exactly the flatlands.

147K miles on engine, 87 regular now since I was getting chump mileage using 93, and I'm getting about 14 mpg all local and lucky to get 20 highway doing 70 mph with cruise. The RX has been reduced to short trips to market and bring kids around for sports.

My tires are bad and alignment is a problem for me. Planning to replace with new tires and get the alignment next week. Could that be causing me getting 12-14 mpg in city?

Keep in mind, that with new tires (given they weigh more than the old tires you had), you will likely not notice an MPG change, and generally a slight drop off. Just the principle involving rotational mass.

Alignment, balancing, rotation can affect MPG, but usually not a huge amount.

Only problems I've experienced since I bought it -
- new set of four tires
- my allignment is off, but I'm getting that fixed with the tire change.
- Each time I hit a bump, my RX300 makes a rattling noise. (Around the tires I think?) Something sounds loose each time I hit a bump.
That's all I can think of. I've been doing all my oil changes on time, I don't drive aggressive. I get 19 mpg on my dads Nissan Murano so yeah.
A full tank only gets me 180 - 210 miles ... which is unacceptable. So I don't know what else could be causing it.

Then what could my problem be Lexmex? This is a 1999 RX300 with 176,000 miles on it.

Slow speed and rattling usually is a shock/shock mount issue, but there's a whole bunch of clicks/rattles that I know of.
When you get your tires changed, pull your battery cables and let the vehicle reset and just drive normally. We'll get a better idea then if its something out of whack with suspension/alignment.

I'm getting 230 miles in 100% city with the smaller tank on the 00'. But, I warm up the RX 5 minutes every morning. And, it's on winter blended fuel right now. The MPG should start going up starting next month, as the weather becomes warmer, and as the transition to summer gas occurs.
