Default Nakamichi vs "premium"

I love my daughters 2001 rx300 so much that I am contemplating looking for another. Can anyone tell me about the differences between the stock system and the nakamichi upgrade. The stock sounds pretty great in her car.

I personally think the stock system which is pioneer is better or the same as the nakamichi.
I know both systems have the same number of speakers, not sure about the rest. LOL I also know that the amplifier is different for the nakamichi.

I don't think the Nakamichi would be a deal breaker on the right car. If you are thinking of another RX let me speak for the 330. I had an '01 RX300 and loved that car. I drove it for close to 6 years with no troubles and planned to keep it until one of us died. Unfortunately, life intervened and it was totaled at 75K in March of this year.

I got an '05 RX330 as a replacement and have come to appreciate it even more than I did the 300. They say it isn't as "bullet proof" as the 300 but it is every inch a Lexus and the engineering is decidedly better. Every system has been improved in function.

It is simply a more modern car with features people expect these days and the dash is designed so a double din GPS/DVD/BT backup camera can be added with no difficulty other than expense and many more are available with these things from the factory.

I can't even tell you how much fun it is to leave the grocery store, press a button and have the rear deck majestically rise to accept the week's provisions.

I have the Nakamichi and one of my neighbors has the Pioneer. I really don't hear a difference even playing the same song. Anything I might perceive there is probably just my imagination. Only thing I may have noticed was that at higher volume, the Nakamichi may have been clearer, but this is not a big deal.

Not sure what other options came bundled with the premium audio, you should check to see what was packaged on the premium rx300... Might be a few things you don't realize, like auto dim mirror, etc.

I also have the Nakamichi on my 2000 RX300, what a waste of money. I was very disappointed since day 1. I also wrote my disappointment on Lexus's survey sheet & that might be one of the reasons Lexus changed to what they have now.....Mark Levinson.

Agree. To me, it's not that special. I have owned other Nakamichi audio products and they were superb. In addition, one of my speakers (driver's side front) is out. I have to get some time to see what's up as I've got some other maintenance/repairs I have to make on my RX300 that are priority right now.

Higher volume Nakamichi sounds better. Pioneer sounds great also.
