Default Antenna very noisy when closing

My original oem antenna broke & it was replaced under warranty by my dealer with a power retractable antenna...now it sounds very noisy after I shut off the radio.
I tried some wd40 but to no avail!
Any advice would be appreciated.

You need to put a light grease on the plastic teeth grooved thing. (the part that retracts the antenna)

I don't see plastic teeth....there's a top flat piece with 4 grooves, I used some vaseline....no change...maybe in time.

Vaseline is a terrible "lubricant" for anything automotive. Try a silicone based grease or white lithium instead.

I had the same problem with my antenna, very noisy and sometimes would get stuck in the middle. If you search on this forum someone posted detailed instructions on how to lubricate it. It was last year and all I can tell you if you look under the wheel where the antenna ends, there a tube for drainage, you need to pull the tube out and push upwards any (thin) oil through that reach the motor inside. Grab a plastic squeeze bottle with fine point so that you are pushing oil up into the tube to reach the motor, let it stay there for a minute or longer then let the tube drain out all the oil. I did this see over 18 months ago and my antenna is good as new, no noise. But do a search and who every posted the instructions was very through. Good luck.

Sounds like my problem. I replaced my second antenna mast, just to find out that I'm actually missing some teeth in one of the small motor gears after dismantling the motor.

Lubrication won't make any difference. These motors are packed with white lithium grease, no need to add anything else. More than likely same problem I currently have. Just pisses me off I can't find this little gear anywhere, which probably costs $2.00. I really don't want to spend anymore money on a replacement antenna motor since it's just a broken plastic gear.
