I have such question. I own RX300 2000. I bought it when it had 170k, now i have 192K. And car runs great. No problem at all.

I want to buy RX330 2005 for myself. And i want to give my RX300 to my wife. But im scared. I dont know what to do. Im scared of mileage , because 200K already big boy milage.Im scared of after 200K (transmission, alternator, engine, steering and etc) So I dont know what to do. Trade it while it runs and get something younger or i can keep it?

There was recently big drama on the 2gen forum when someone bought an 04 with 220K, everybody tried to talk her out of it but she took it to an independent mech and had it checked out. He gave it a clean bill of health and she is happily motoring around today.

You might do the same thing, have the valve cover pulled to make sure there is no gelling, get a real idea of the car's prospects for another 50k without losing a tranny or engine.

If it checks out, give it a major service and get on with it.

There are many examples over 300k but no one can tell you how far your car will go, the fact it's gone 192k is an indication it is a strong engine. Have a compression check done, an oil analysis, all the things than can be checked.

I think your advice is based on the question asked ... to see if the engine is still good.

If you take a step back, there are few things to consider before any test(s) are done. My learning in life is ... you need to have a plan before the test for the outcomes. If your actions will still be the same, then skip the test altogether.

At 200,000 miles you have a lot of routine maintenance approaching (timing belt, waterpump, cam seals, other seals, struts, suspension bushings, etc, etc, etc). This is aside from the "gotcha's" of the RX300 (transmission uncertainties, engine gelling, etc). So to keep it in tip-top shape, you're looking at some serious expense (unless you're hard-core DIY). Unfortunately, with 200,000 miles, you won't get much for it in trade. But it never hurts to try. Someone recently got a very good deal for a 2002 with 80,000 miles in trade against a SC430 (although the SC was a little overpriced).

None of those seals are necessary until they start leaking.

The timing belt shouldn't be done again till ATLEAST 250K.

Engine gelling will not happen as long as you use synthetic oil (5-7.5k oci), or conventional oil with a 3k oci.

The transmission probably won't let go if it lasted this long (that is of the poor planetary gear failure, it may eventually die due to regular wear and tear) but these car's are getting older and that means more and more parts so you can a trans cheaper from a junkyard and someone can install it for $300-$500.
