2003 RX 300 Exhaust Leak
Hi,
I have a fuel smelling fumes around my Lexus when running. It has been suggested that the problem is a leak in the exhaust system. Is there a first spot to go looking for exhaust leaks on a 2003 RX300 with 177,000 miles on it?
Thanks in advance,
Fred

If you will be needing professional help to fix the problem, why dont you go to one of preferred exhaust shop (if you prefer them over the dealership). They will diagnose the problem accurately, while you will get best guess from CL. These shops will give you repair estimates too.

The typical place of the leak id the flex connector (braided section). Usually it is accompanied by a roaring sound and the exhaust can penetrate into the cabin, but usually gets distributed in the air.
I was reluctant to share this as, it might increase your comfort level and you might be tempted to ignore the problem. But since it is entering the cabin, hopefully you realize that the leak may be underneath the cabin and the most dangerous part is the silent carbon monoxide which you may be inhaling without any realization.
Please have it checked and fixed.
