Front door rattles from speakers - Dynamat?
Hi,
I get significant vibration rattles in my front doors when playing music (or even AM radio) at decent volumes.
Has anyone tried Dynamat or any other aftermarket sound deadener?
If so, how did you apply it and how do you get the door panel off?
How about spray foam type stuff?
Thanks,
Eph

My door also rattles from my speakers. It normally occurs when I turn the bass up past 1 or 2. I am going to put dynamat in my doors. You can buy a "door kit" that is already cut to the basic shape of the door. As far as door removal...see the previous thread about the subwoofer install...ShoNuff explained it there.

Hi there. I've used DYNOMAT in my other car, but not for vibration noises, rather to reduce highway road noise. Generally this product is used on the inside of the actual door surfaces - because it adheres easier and creates a stronger, longer lasting bond. It's a rubbery mat which you cut to fit the surface, then heat it in some fashion (like a hot hair dryer), peal the plastic layer off of the adhesive side and simply press against the door. Works pretty good.
If you have vibration coming from the plastic door panels I'd suspect a problem with:
1) Blown speaker
2) Broken speaker clips
3) Broken door panel clips
Factory setup (speakers/door panels) should not have any vibration unless you have one of the issues described above - that's where your warranty comes in place!
Hope this helps

I think the vibration in the front door panels is pretty common in the RX with music playing. I've tried to get my Lexus dealer to fix it, but you try being 20 and explaining to a service associate that your music rattles the doors. No matter how I put it, I feel I am being stereotyped. Yeah, he plays his music too damn loud, that's all it is.

MY Rx has the same problem. Occurs with high Bass settings. The dealer has put some foam? to minmize it but not much help. They told me it's normal.

they told me the same thing... those dealers even told a tech to look at the problem with me and i showed him where the rattle was coming from and he heard it... too bad he said it was part of how the rx is and every other rx3 is like that... i tried countless times but no luck on myside either... once i get my system in i'll dynamat also and see how it goes

Like I said above I had the same problem, but since I put in subwoofers in the trunk it doesnt occur anymore. With all the bass I need in the rear, I can get the bass going to the speakers at a minimal volume (1 or 2) and have no problem.

Unfortunately, I get the vibrations even with the base at 0 or even -1. Deep voices on AM radio or good pounding music causes it all the time...
You think Dynamat foam will do the job (comes in spray can and expands to fit the whole cavity)?

Jonnystan, do you have a way to adjust your subs in the cargo area seperately from the stock sub? I assume you can if you say you keep the OEM sub on a lower setting. That, IMO, is the ideal setup and/or solution for the RX.
