Hi to everybody!

I'm newbie here. I want to join your Lexus RX family, but i need advise before.

i have 2007 Dodge Caliber, and now i want to trade it for Lexus RX300. For the price which i can afford $1-7500 I can get only something like 1999-2000 year with more than 135k mileage.

I know that you Lexus fans and you want me to be also=) But i need your advise without any fanatism . Is that okay to buy RX with more than 135K mileage on it? or it is a lot, and i have chance to spent all my day offs in mechanical shops?

And can you compare labor hour of Lexus with my Dodge? I just want to know the difference in price of repairs.

i say thats a down grade, i mean 135k miles is a neck breaker. I just look at my cars as an investment

Of course I understand that 135k is too much. My question is what does it mean for Lexus.
I just moved from Europe, and we are usually drive German cars, and for example for mercedes 135k miles is nothing. Also i understand that USA is huge and most of roads are highways, and most of this miles is highway miles, which is good.

135k is pushing it unless the car was babied and has already done its major maint. Cost of repair versus dodge should be fairly large...i mean Lexus cost of repair is a big mark up over Toyota so I can only imagine that its going to be big versus a domestic company. But the cars are reliable...I dont think you would hav too many issues if the car was well taken care of.

ya it all depends on how well the car was maintained and serviced..but ya the cost repairs are def cheaper than the german cars but expensive than ur dodge. Get a good record from Lexus dealership if they have it and show it to a good mechanic for major problems. and if you think you have done the homework then the car will keep u happy for more miles..

My wife drives an '03 RX300 and it just turned 130K miles. Other than routine maintenance, tires, etc., the only cost of repair was for a faulty O2 sensor (the infamous Bank1 Sensor1)....$100 on-line, hour of (my) labor.

I don't think 135k on RX300 is much, if you read this forum many of them have twice that mileage. Make sure it has not been in accident, the weakest thing in RX is the transmission. Mine just got replaced at 100k miles, so if it has a re-built then it is a great deal if not then allow 2-3k for repairs in the future. I know someone has a 1996 corolla with over 550k miles on it

135k miles is NOTHING...what are you guys talking about??? It's a friggin' toyota for god' sake!! It'll run forever, far more than any german car. Just do the normal maintenance, and you'll be fine.
