How do I get rid of Discharge Warning Light?
Hello people! I have '99 RX with 180K miles, a few weeks ago the discharge warning light came on, I went to the store, they tested my battery & alternator and said that the alternator is fine but the battery was at 42%, so because it was 4 years old, I decided to get a new one (Optima Yellow Top), but the light still remained on even with the new battery. I load tested them again at the store and both came up OK. I started the car, disconnected the battery, and it was still running. I've been driving with the new battery and the light on for 3 weeks without any problem. How do I fix the light, it's driving me nuts!? Thank you!

The discharge lamp has more to do with the charging and less with the battery. I would start by checking if the belt is loose.
The guys with a load gauge at the store are looking for a weak battery. The real test is to remove the alternator and put it on a test jig. A more trained tech can create an test environment (lights on etc) and measure voltage.
Another reason for the discharge lamp being on is if one the load has gone bad .. but that usually drains the battery real quick. This does not look likely in your case.

I would assume there is only one real way and that is to reset the computer. Eg if your brake light comes on there is no way of turning it off without resetting computer as changing sensors after disks and pad are changed has no bearing on the warning light.
