Regardless of the outcome, what's everyone's thoughts on oil type & weight moving forward?

Put the AutoRx in 250 miles ago. Will keep you posted. Still interested in the Oil type moving forward regardless if rear seal is replaced or not.

L4us- This is only one opinion but I have always had terrific luck with Castrol GTX (regular dino oil) keeping the inside of an engine clean, and I do mean clean. If you feel like running synthetic, I would see if you couldn't find German made Castrol. I understand it's not real easy to find but it is better than our own North American Castrol. Obviously it is synthetic and while I don't think it's necessary to run synthetic, because these engines in the RX are under more of a challenge, it wouldn't hurt if you're so inclined. Im not a STRONG fan of Pennzoil but from what I understand the Platinum is a terrific oil. Once again, a full synthetic. There are other GOOD oils, but as popular as it is, I'm also not a fan of Mobil 1. I don't think Castrol makes any bad oil, even though it's BP!

Default Update - another rear main seal Auto Rx

Well, it's been 2,200 miles since using the ARX. Did a LOF today (Reg Dino Oil) per ARX instructions. Noticed no drip from below after 15 minutes.

The drip started vanishing at or about 1,000 miles of using the product. Once the snow falls, I will have a better idea if it's dripping a little or not at all.

Since I purchased 3 bottles, I may do a second round regardless since its a high mileage (162 k) vehicle and use some for my next tranny service.

Will keep you posted after phase two - so far, so good.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to you all!

Ran the Arx, changed oil and over the past 5 K drip stayed, but only lost 1/4 of a quart. Doing 2nd treatment now. Before I tried this it was dripping heavily. Good results.

Still working - no leaks! Now a question for you all.

Still using reg. Dino oil. Was using a synthetic blend and then went to full synthetic. About a year later, the rear main started leaking.

Opinions vary, but some believe the leak was due to the switch from Syn blended oil to full Synthetic after 9 years.

My question is: Is it safe to go back to at least the Synthetic blend now?

Using reg Dino for last 5 LOF's.

Thanks as always and it's worth a few bucks to give it a try versus $ 750- $1,200 to repair the seal.

As long as you are doing 3k oci's, you can even just stick with dino oil.
But, I'd say it's safe to go to full synthetic, if you wanted.

I've always done OC's @ 5,000 - mostly highway and rotate tires. But, been doing at 3,500 miles ( out of fear) because of the leak.

May go back to synthetic now.

Thanks!

PS: still love this car
