Used RX300 Purchase
Hello all.
I'm new to this forum, and I am looking at a certified pre-owned 1999 RX300 with 50,000 miles on it. The dealer is asking for $28,500, but I am hoping to get him down to $27,000-$27,500. Is this a good deal? The car is front wheel drive and fully loaded.

i am also looking for a 99 RX.
you can get a ceritifed RX300 with about 50000-55000 miles for about $25000. keep shopping. there are more aggressive deals to be found at the end of a month. but you are in lousiana so price may be higher than in other states.

Yikes, sounds pricey... though Certified is nice when you can get it with a warranty. It's not really fair to compare my purchase with the one you're looking at, but here it is anyway.
99 RX300 All Wheel Drive Black w/ Chrome Rims and Gold Lettering
31,000 miles
No dents, dings or scratches
$27,000
I originally saw this vehicle on Ebay, but the guy selling it was about 45 minutes away in Oregon. He's a wholesaler who picked up this vehicle as a lease return at auction. Apparently they have a lot of lease returns in the Los Angeles area. So I drove up there, checked it out, and brought it home knowing the dealership was asking $31k for comparable vehicles. I was lucky in that it still had 5 months left on the original warranty. So I was able to get some minor problems fixed before the warranty ran out.
Best of luck to you. I would definitely check out eBay if I were buying again. You can save thousands going that route. In my experience, Lexus dealerships haven't been too apt to haggling their prices.

If you look hard enough you can find a FWD 2001 with low mileage less than 20K, withall the major options for below 30K with a certified warranty. Don't be afraid to ask for the money off their listed price. You may have to walk away but 95% of the time they'll call you back with the deal you want.
