HID question
ok, i know there have been threads about hids before but i'm stupid...if i were to go with an after market hid kit...what happens when i'm driving in the day time with the daytime running lites...cause what happens now with my regular bulbs is they are dimmer i'm assuming because of less power going to the bulbs...what does that do to a plug-n-play after market set up? is it gonna have an adverse effect to the after market set up? i dun wanna shell out $$$ for a set and then it don't work...help a brotha out!

Caution note
If you look at an RX with factory HIDs you will notice that the HID voltage supply cabling is very well shielded. I have seen a few, very few, posts wherein the aftermarket HID system generated so much RFI (radio frequency interference) that they caused problems with other electronic functions in the same vehicle.

wwest,
Please provide specific examples of posts concerning
this phenomenon in an RX 300 installation, rather than
a generalized statement regarding "a few, very few, posts".
Try this scale:
1=one
2=a couple
3="a few, very few"

Please provide..
Sorry paddy, I over-looked that.
My assumption was that anyone with half a brain would recognize the value in a note of caution (rather than an out-and-out WARNING) and check out the situation before proceeding.
Most HID's use a high frequency solid state "chopper" type circuit to reach (from 12V) the high voltage levels (25K?) needed to light-off, strike, the initial arc. But if you still have no faith in me then the best thing to do is as I said, Look at the shielded wiring on the factory HID systems, the factory wouldn't expend the extra money to do that if they didn't feel it was necessary.

Nope...Sorry. You have asserted as fact:
"I have seen a few, very few, posts wherein the aftermarket HID system generated so much RFI (radio frequency interference) that they caused problems with other electronic functions in the same vehicle."
Again, please provide specific examples of posts concerning
this phenomenon in an RX 300 installation, rather than
a generalized statement regarding "a few, very few, posts".
Try this scale:
1=one
2=a couple
3="a few, very few"

Nope...Sorry.
I did a search on RFI and came up with nothing to support your
claim that you: "have seen a few, very few, posts wherein the
aftermarket HID system generated so much RFI (radio frequency
interference) that they caused problems with other electronic
functions in the same vehicle."
Are you lying here, too? I saw you got caught in a lie on Edmunds
a couple weeks ago, and even had posts removed in the RX 300
forum...and, over the last few days, they're spanking you in the Highlander forum. Rather bad form, eh?
Oh, I forgot...That was your "last response" to me "on this thread."

LoL you guys crazy, crazy i say!! lol

no worries, your DRL are on the high's while your low's are well, your normal lights. If you swap your Low's for HIDS, which would be the one you want to do, then it shoudl be fine. 2 different bulbs and there shoudlnt' be no problems...
