RX300 interchangeable parts
I've been a browser on here for a couple of months and now doing my first post. I currently have an 03 RX300 with roughly 96k mile on it. Just recently due to the heat we have been experiencing in Houston, I had the passanger rear quarter glass break and explode outwards. I got it replaced with a used one at a local glass shop and happened to noticed that the glass was a perfect match but has Toyota etched in the glass instead of Lexus.
The question I have is did Lexus use toyota etched glass in any years of the RX300? Also, this makes me think that there might be some Toyota model here in the US that the parts might be interchangable with the RX300. If
so, which model is it or are them?

I know Lexus is made by Toyota, but the frost etching that is usually on the lower right of
all the windows all say LEXUS, but I now have one that says Toyota. I can only assume that there is a cross model that uses that same glass here in the US unless this
came off a Toyota Harrier or Toyota dealerships can order this now. I know this
can be had at Lexus, new, for around $700.

I'm pretty sure that the part is off of another RX300. The Highlander quarter glass does not look like it would cross over. I would guess that the year of the glass is the difference. I used to have an older ES300 that had Toyota etched on the glass and I'm pretty sure my friends 99 RX300 said Toyota too. My 2001 says Lexus, so my guess is 1999 & maybe 2000 Rx300s had Toyota on them and at some point transitioned to Lexus etching.

Ok, now I see. It was found on early first generations. Now since it is mentioned that the highlander is the sister model. Are there
any parts that are compatible to work on the RX300? Meaning such
as sensors, hatch lifts, etc, would be able to transfer with out paying the higher Lexus dealer cost?

Yep, lots of Highlander and even Camry parts cross over. In fact most Lexus parts just come in a Toyota package with a Toyota part #. I think the only thing that I have bought so far that is unique is maybe the air filter and I think the rear brakes were different.

With my 1972 Mercedes-Benz, you had a choice of tinted or non-tinted glass, but that was rare even back then.

The slight mirror tint on RX300's looks to me like it can be tinted again with film and removing it shouldn't interfere with the stock tint either as it isn't a film. I am thinking of one of two options use a static removable tint on glass or use regular tint.

Unless your gonna tint it on the outside, which i don't think its possible, you can't do anything about it since its part of the glass...

Yep dosent matter which tint you use its going to look reflective on the outside on the car, but the visibility inside will be reduced of course due to the film on the inside.
The only options are the JDM parts or some sort of aftermarket solution, however companies producing this glass will be matching that reflective tint or else people wouldnt want it (if they were trying to keep a matching scheme or the OEM look).
Sucks!
