got my new style tail lights today

Shonuff,
Awesome job with the lights. I have a '99 black RX too and was wondering if they would look better. Now I know for sure that they do!
Quick question - Did the lights ship with the proper connector for a 99/00 RX or did you need to modify it? My understanding is that the 01/02 have come with different connectors for the tail lights.
Thanks & nice job

foucco,
thanks, they shipped with the proper connectors. all you do is pull the old wiring harnesses out and pop the new ones in. the only thing that did not fit correctly was the rubber grommet that seals the hole where the wires pass thru into the vehichle. i just siliconed the grommet over the hole. works grat and keeps it sealed........you'll see how it fits when you get your!!! =)

Thanks for the info! I'm glad to see that the connectors will fit. I'm finally installing the rear wind deflector this weekend that I picked up in March. Just waiting for the two rivots that were missing from Toyota. The lights will have to be my next project!
Have you considered adding the rear bumper protector? I think that would be one of the best additions for me since I tend to sit on my bumper when I put on my ski boots. However, I went to the dealer today and it was $118!. That's a lot for a piece of molded plastic. I think I'll have to go aftermarket, if I can find a place that sells it.
Thanks,
Mike

mrsypher, don't keep us in the dark too long now.
foucco, the bumper protector is a good idea. I bought one online for my RX as soon as they were available. Check out irontoad.com - they have them for $68.95. Still expensive for a piece of plastic, but more cost effective than dealer prices. Irontoad is the only site I know offhand that has them, I don't know if there are others out there. I think I paid $80 for mine.

Thanks for the tips with the bumper protector! I'll do some shopping this weekend and hopefully have it installed by next week.
I'll just have to make sure that I put it on straight.

Shonuff,
I have a question regarding the installation of the taillights when you have a minute. Actually, it's more to do with removing the '99 lights.
How do you get the rubber grommet that seals the hole where the wires pass thru off/out? Do you just yank it out or did you need to use a knife? Ideally, I'd like to get if off in one piece should I ever need to use those lights again.
Your advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
-Mike
PS - Finallly installed the spoiler (rear wind deflector) after having it sit in my living room for 3 months. I wouldn't call it easy since the holes on the mold aren't exactly where they should be, but it wasn't worth paying Lexus $250 (what they quoted me) to do it.
