Default Lexus RX300 Rear Main Question

Are Toyota 90311a0027 main seals Teflon coated, or standard seals?
Teflon coated are installed differently. GM auto and Detroit Diesel use teflon. The install dry.
i have a 220k RX300 that has a bone dry rear seal and galley plug. Plan to replacecthe rear main seal while the transmission is out. The above part number is what I have.

Thanks

I don't know if they are coated. Put a bit of motor oil or synthetic grease on install you'll never have a problem. FYI the flex plate bolts must be clean and have the proper thread locker applied or oil will leak through the bolt holes.

Great info on the flex plate bolts. Generally use at minimum a bit of blue locktite, but have sealing thread lock too.
Thanks

I have replaced the front main on multiple Lexus including RX and the instructions call for lubing the seal with motor oil. A bit of grease on the shape retaining spring is just added insurance. Lex2K is on the spot on his advice.

The more important part is the depth/position of the seal. For a new engine it is not very important but for shafts with many miles, it is nice to position the seal in the same location. Since I don't own a seal driver, PVC drain fittings have been handy. I have limited sockets in the large size.
