Default A tip for the front sensor....

Thnaks to all for the great info....I just replaced my front sensor...Used PB blaster and a box 7/8 offset wrench...took a little work by moving back and forth but it finally gave way...

A small tip: There is a cluster of wires wrapped in an insulating rubber guard above the sensor plug..If one moves this out of the way by removing a small clip then the snesor is easily unplugged

Thanks for this thread-just did the sensor behind the radiator...used PB blaster, let it sit over night. Popped right off with a small vice grip, wasn't much effort needed. The connector was another story...would NOT budge. After 15 mins, my wife casually mentions to take out the battery for a better angle.

Pulled battery, connector came right off, and reinstalled new sensor. Total job took 20 mins.

Greetings,
It is appropriate to get in touch by phone or email? I live in OC and need some help with Bank 1 Sensor 1 on my Lexus RX300. I'm new to this or any kind of forum. I noticed that you said you might be able to help the guy from San Diego free up his A/F sensor. I would most appreciate some help!

Warm regards,
Adam

I recently had my rear sensor (bank 1, sensor 1) replaced by a local mechanic while he changed the oil (I had ordered the sensor online). Charged me a few extra $ but I didn't have ramps or ability to jack the car high enough to work underneath. Best part - I was in/out in half an hour.

Just ordered the Denso from Amazon last night--less than $78.00, including shipping! Plan on doing it as soon as I get it.
Thanks for the great writeup!

We had quite a few horror stories about the sensor stuck solid and now we are hearing about a change as easy as an oil-change. I think the issue gets sensationalized by complaints only.

+1. I did two Bank 1 A/F sensors both at about 80k and both popped right out.

I've only changed one A/F sensor the one near the radiator and it came off with ease.

That's a great price, about 30 bucks less than what I paid. Nice!

After a couple hours in google and phone calls to autozone, advance auto, and two lexus dealers parts department I get a lot of conflicting answers for the P1155 code. The leading candidate is the very front sensor by the radiator. Can somebody confirm?

I have VSC and CEL illuminated. Tried zero point calibration and other common remedies.

Yep, you got it right. Only use OE Denso to replace: http://www.amazon.com/Denso-234-9009...=5336108637-20

Default Success with P1155

Used the denso 234-9009 to alleviate my P1155 error.

Originally, As mentioned in previous post I only had the VSC and CEL illuminated
I only had a P1155 code
Zero point calibration did make error lights go off but as soon as i put car in gear the error lights and P1155 returned , therefore bought a new sensor

Used short stubby sensor removal tool from ADvance auto ($12)
sprayed wd40 on joint a half dozen times over a couple days
Removed battery for easier access to connector
had to use a short breaker bar on socket wrench to break free and unscrew sensor

Thanks again carguy07

Default Bank 1 Sensor 1 done, Exhaust smells

I had a CEL code of P1130 a couple of weeks ago. I ordered a couple of Denso 234-9009 A/F sensors to change out both Bank 1 and Bank 2. I did the Bank 1 Sensor 1 last weekend and it was a breeze. Just tight space to work in under the RX300 (2001). I'll change out the Bank 2 sensor in the front when the part comes in. I plan to change out the Oxygen sensor too, I think it's called Bank 1, Sensor 2, just after the Cat. Converter. I'm changing them all out since the RX has 205k miles and only had the A/F for B1-S1 changed out at 108k, a few years back.
I have noticed recently that the exhaust smells strong. I hope it not the Cat. Converter. I'm hoping the O2 sensor change will help with that one. I cleared the code but it came on the next day for just that one day. It has not reappeared. I'll repost when I find out what the new code turns out to be.
