Angry Autotrans blues RX300 1999

I just bought a used RX300 with 130,000 miles in great shape, but trans just started slipping and I pulled two codes that tell me I need a new trans....PO765 for shift solenoid drivers circuit fault, and PO770 for shift solenoid E circuit Malfunction, fluid has a slight smell. The trans will move in drive and reverse, but trans has a wine type noise, and after the noise stops, "so does the trans" I would guess its Done?

It could be a problem with the sensors or wiring too.

Drop the pan to see if you can tell some thing is broken/disintegrated .. sediment in the pan.

Sounds like. How long have you had it? May want to try to raise hell! If you have to eat this I'd look into having Toyota service it with a highlander transmission. Same transmission, huge $$ savings.

I would get a serviced at an independent shop (not Aamco) they will save you the most money and ask them what kind of planetary gear assembly they will install for the rebuild. The new one should be a all steel carrier with 6 gears. The original was a aluminum carrier with 4 gears. Probablly this is the failure item as far as I can tell.

wait wait
does this mean
the rebuilt one is a 6 speed vs 4 speed?
or am i completely mis understanding the concept.

Mines at 110K and Im hoping to get 20-30K more out of it before a rebuild but when I get mine re built I want it to make the car last to 250K and going from a 4 to a 6 speed would rock..always wished i had 1 extra gear for highway cruising..

No, it would be a cool upgrade though. He's talking planetary gears.
