No, it wasn't done with a hole-puncher... someone rear-ended me and the license plate screws made those impressions.

The person tried to beat a toll gate... I had just passed the gate and he tried to follow me through before the toll gate comes down... then he rear-ended me! what will people do next?

Insurance adjuster said it's "only" a $200 fill-in/sand/paint job... what do you guys think?

(P.S. what I can't figure out is how two license plate screws can make 4 impressions like that...)

Sorry to hear that sleepybobcat, that sux. What kind of car was it that hit you?

The only thing that comes to mind immediately is that the screws hit at the top and as the driver slammed on the brakes the nose of the car moved downward and hit harder where the bottom holes are and made more of an impression. Does that make any sense?

Hey that happened to us as well from someones license plate screws, but it must have been at an angle so we only have one "punch hole"

Nick,

Yeah, that makes sense... The guy did back up a little after he hit me. The second set of screw marks must be from that.

Oh well, I'll just have to let them re-paint it and forget about it...

Perhaps I should get this installed...

Let the bumper take the abuse, transferring the impact energy to the frame/structure is a bad idea ... but then no one can see it

Another thing with that bar in the back. I would advise you guys to get it... It already saved me $$$$$... I was reversing into a spot and some guy opened his door and I slammed into it... Nothing happened to my rearend, only a little scratch.. His door was messed up... If I didn't have that bar I would have needed a new bumper..... The guy was drunk so he didn't care... I love it...

I was in the middle of trying to do a U-turn, and I misjudged the distance from the back of my bumper and this wire and reversed right into it, but I was going slow. It only indented about 1/4 inch. No paint got chipped so its not notice-able. But its feel-able.
