Original Timing Belts Mileage.......
I know there is a lot of debate on when to change the timing belts and I don't want to get into that with this thread.............just wanted to do an informal survey for those that are still on their original timing belts.
1. Who is still on their original timing belts and how many miles do you have currently on the belt?
2. What year is your RX300?

Wow...so you went 180K onthe original timing belt?
Are you the original owner of the vehicle? There's no chance that if you're the 2nd owner the 1st owner already changed beforehand?
1. After how many years of use did you change the belt?
2. Did you get a chance to look at the old belt? If so how did it look?

Going on the likely premise that they didn't and that you just changed it in the spring (+/- 10K miles), that means you got 220K miles out of you original timing belt......WOW!

Do you know if the original owners ever changed the timing belt before you purchased? I highly doubt it given the low mileage.

I'm glad I changed it when I did!
Although it probably would have lasted longer.-
I had a slight knock under accleration, and thought it might be "slop" in my timing belt, but when I was done it was still there.-
I had to change my knock sensors to eliminate the knock.
There was brownish powder/dust that had a rusty look to it, all over the inside of the timing belt covers.
I also changed the water pump, belt tensioner, and idler pulley, they also looked pretty good considering the time and milage on them.
It really wasn't too bad doing the job, I had to jack up the motor slightly, to get the water pump off the studs that were too long for clearance.
