Default warning lights

While driving yesterday, the check engine light, the VSC light and the TRAC OFF light all came on at the same time and stayed on.

I have also been hearing some ticking noises coming from inside the dash board, intermitting ticking, sometimes slower than other times.

My transmission failed last month and had it rebuilt. No problems with that.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I think I am going to enjoy helping you all out when I get back to Florida

I wouldn't worry about any ticking noises from the dash, that is unrelated.

If you don't notice anything out of the ordinary with the way the vehicle performs, probably just a P0171 error and you can reset it via the EFI fuse or battery trick I have shown before.

Sometimes abrupt weather change can cause the P0171 (air temperature).

The vehicle drives fine. I will try to reset the codes.

Out of curiosity, isn't VSC Vehicle Scid Control? I have read in other posts that VSC relates to O2 sensor. I am a little confused.

Thanks.

Yes, it is, but it will come on anyway. I don't have that in my 99. Thing to see would be to go to an AutoZone and have them check the code for you.

The lights won't mean much without the code, there are a bunch of codes that it could be.

Took it to Autozone...they plugged it in and gave me this report:

Code: P1135

Definition: Air/Fuel ratio sensor heater circuit malfunction (bank 1 sensor 1)

Probable Causes:

1. Open or short circuit condition
2. AF Sensor heater relay fault
3. Failed AF ratio sensor

What do you recommend I do? is it something critical that needs to be fixed or can I live with the problem? If I decide to fix it, what am I looking at $$ wise.

Thanks.

I am not sure from mechanic to mechanic, but a those sensors run under $200 USD, about $170 USD or so. I assume you have tried to reset the code and it still comes up? What you are looking at if the sensor is a failure is lower MPG, but I wouldn't go on too long with this code.

Again, got the same code, P1135 plus P0125. Ordered my Denso today for $152 shipped. Will let you know if that solves the issue, which it should. Hoping that it will take care of the TRAC OFF light too.

TampRX300:
are you planning to install it yourself? where is this part located? where did you order it from?

Please keep me updated...We obviously have the same problem.

Thanks.

I got it from Ebay (autopartspro). I went under the car and got the sensor loose and lubed for when I get the new one in, it should be here tomorrow. We Floridians get those codes a lot...

I'm hoping that it is Denso like it says. I'll let you know when I get it and provide with update.

I spoke to them before ordering and they assured it was OEM Denso. The feedbacks have good stuff about it and one of the feedbacks was from another RX300 and he/she claimed that it "fixed" the CEL light...

To: FLRX300 I heard in some toyota`s,that when the oil pressure light comes on,it`s really an Amp. issue (altenator problem) figure that one out.
