1999 RX300 still going >>> Although, I am just now starting to have oil problems and need to decide if I want to invest in a repair and a set of new tires before winter, or start looking for a new vehicle. A tough decision as I do love my car. Already did the rebuilt transmission thing 3 years ago...

I am on the same boat. Mine 2001 AWD has ~195,000 miles on it now. Can feel the vibration thru the steering wheel over 75 mph. It is going to cost over a G if I have to change both struts and tires since the snow will come soon. Still running strong and getting 17+ mpg local and ~21 mpg highway (~75mph). But who knows when it will quit.

I have a 99 Rx300 AWD with 210k miles logged in without any major issues. I bought it in Nov of '06 with approx 160k miles on it and since then ive changed the MAF sensor, all 6 coil packs, spark plugs twice, front two A/F sensors, brake pads and turned the front rotors, new tires, and all the regular maintenance like air filter and oil changes. Most people think its a new car by looking at it and it runs amazing. I'm willing to bet i can run it 350k-400k before it finally dies on me.

Original owner RX300 2000 Front Wheel drive with 141,000k here in Florida. Car looks new inside and out. Stopped outrageous Lexus maintenance at 80k, have oil changed regularly with Castrol GTX. Not one major issue, transmission seems perfect (knock on wood).

Wouldn`t it be cool if we got 1,000,000 miles out of one on here, like the woman from I believe it was Florida, that owns a 1971 Chevy Camaro ( bone stock, and orig. engine/trans) ? Well, rite off the bat we can forget about the trans going any where near that................Oh well, nice thought anyway, they just dont build them like they used to I guess.Todays engines are excellent, but the transmissions just dont hold up in too many of the vehicles out their anymore. Since they went metric(the transmissions) it was pretty much down hill from their.Too many weak parts, plastic junk in them etc.

yea i saw that, im definately going to use that DIY guide, as far as the fluid to use goes i wasnt able to find the mobil 3309 (i think it was) anywhere and could only order it online from like yahoo or something at approx $75 a 12 pack after shipping, does that sound reasonable or is there another kind you would suggest using that would be something more readily available?

I bought mine new in July 1998, took it to a dump of a place called Sayulita Mexico about 5 years ago. Changed the shocks at 95,000 (ohh those topes) Honest to god when I take it out after periodic maint it runs like new. 105,000 hard miles. Change fluids frequently and treat it normal and it I don't see why it won't last another 100,000.

2000 RX300 fwd
I have lexus do all of the required maintenance except for engine oil changes, this is my wifes car and so far she has not had to call for help on the side of the road. The car currently has 138K miles on it. I am fixing everything as it needs it. It does require maintenance as any car does but I got 120K from the brakes before I replaced them. The engine air/fuel ratio sensors had to be replaced at 100k, I am replacing the struts and associated hardware tomorrow. It still rides and drives better than my friends brand new ford. Its paid for and I figure for the $400 a month car note I don't have, will pay for a lot of repairs, so keep them up and it's a great vehicle to own. Best of luck with yours, we love ours.
