Default Difference between Rx300 and Rx300 Silversport

I just bought a silver 2001 Rx300 Silversport, and was wondering whats the difference between the Silversport and the normal Rx300. Is it just the Silversport emblum on the trunk, honeycomb grill, and the Silversport logo on the floor mat?

More than that too. Silver roof rack, perforated leather seats. Suspension??

RX 300 Silversport Arrives at Lexus Showrooms
2001 Lexus RX 300
Torrance, CA (April 10, 2001)

The special-edition Lexus RX 300 Silversport, featuring an exclusive suspension and appearance enhancements, is now available at Lexus dealerships.

The RX 300 mid-size sport utility vehicle established a whole new trend in the luxury market when it arrived on the scene in March 1998 and quickly became Lexus' best-selling model. With a dynamic interior, enhanced performance and aggressive design, the Silversport edition enhances the sporty appearance of the RX 300.

Adding to the customary Lexus luxury, the Silversport comes equipped with a unique Euro-tuned Sport Suspension, brushed aluminum interior trim, black perforated leather, distinctive front grille and silver roof crossbars. The Silversport also comes with a power moonroof, driver's seat memory, electrochromic inside and outside mirrors, programmable garage door opener, air filtration system and an in-dash, six-disc CD auto-changer.

Powered by a 220-horsepower V6, which employs Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i), the RX 300 Silversport meets the challenge of the sport enthusiast with quick response and strong pulling power.

The RX 300 Silversport is a limited-production special edition with a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $36,710 for the front-wheel drive and $38,460 for the four-wheel drive. The Silversport edition represents a $4,600 value for a cost of $2,800 MSRP.

The special-edition Lexus RX 300 Silversport is available for a limited time through Lexus' 191 dealerships nationwide.

"Euro-tuned sport suspension?" hmmm I always wondered what Lexus meant by a more "Exclusive suspension system." For me (2001 RX300 Silversport), the suspension actually seems pretty loose and soft (rolls a lot in the turns) compared to a 1998 RX300 I drove.

My 2001 RX300 Silversport definetly handles much better than the 2000 RX 300 it replaced. In fact, I really wasn't ready to get rid of the 2000 but a test ride in a SilverSport convinced me. Like you, I wonder what Lexus means by a more "Exclusive suspension system." I could never pin down exactly what parts were different but can tell by the feel something is different. I don't see different strut part numbers for SilverSport and plain RX. Does that mean if I change my struts I will be back to standard RX handling or is something else different.

I loved the look of the Silversport With its Monotone paint. I bought the RX300 thinking I could live with the two tone. Very soon after buying I realized I HATED the two tone so I went looking for a Silversport. Needless to say they were hard to find and when I did find one it was two wheel drive. I finally found one test drove it. Man thing rode stiff as hell. I just thought to myself why does it ride so hard. I thought it was vehicle specific and decided maybe I should pass on this one. I left the dealership to go home to do some research as to y the ride was different to my RX. Up to that time I had always thought the Silversport was just an appearance package. After researching I realized that it had a Eurotuned suspension. If I wanted something that rode that stiffly I would have gotten an MDX. I therefore created my own Silversport without the suspension that I hated. And the brushed aluminum trim was not my flavor

Interesting, I still find the SilverSport a little cushy for me but it is mainly my wife's ride. But it definitely does handle much better than my previous RX. It may have been the tires or tire pressure on your test ride.

I have the Silversport and I got it because I hate the two toned paint job. I find the suspension to be just a bit stiffer. Not too stiff, however.

Difference between Silversport and non-Silversport:

1) Euro-tuned suspension
2) Black Pearl Emblems
3) Silversport badge
4) Brushed aluminum interior
5) Perforated leather seats
6) Mono-tone paint (two tone in regular Rx-es)
7) Special honeycomb grill
8) Silversport floormats
9) Silver roof rack

^^it might be just the leather. The leather is coach leather.

I believe the Coach edition also had two (?) special exterior colors and the leather like 2000LEX said. One of the colors was similar to the flint mica available in 2nd gen. I remember admiring it at the NY Auto Show.

I dont think you would find that stiffer suspension too enjoyable here on these PA roads though .

Yep, our RX Coach also came with a luggage set from Coach and a certificate. The wood trim is also a bit lighter than usual. There is COACH embossed in the headrests as well, the leather is much more supple and soft than the regular.

I had never heard of a silversport until we started looking around at about a million RX's after we decided thats what we wanted. Initially what attracted me was the one solid color which I think looks a million times better than the two-tone (just an opinion). Also I am 25 as of today (Happy b-day me!)and my fiance is 22. I like the little bit stiffer suspension and the leather. Wood grain is okay but the polished aluminum just seemed to fit our preference. So maybe the silversport was just made to appeal to the younger generation?(LOL) It makes the RX look and feel a lot sportier, this package is what got me away from looking at the MDX.
