Are any of the 'camber bolts' (the ones that secure the bottom of the strut to the knuckle; see, e.g., post # 6 above) eccentric?

Nope, they're just two bolts and two nuts, nothing else.

I have 110k miles on my '01 RX300 and need to replace all of the struts. Can someone please let me know ALL the parts needed, e.g., struts, bellows, mounts, etc. Or are these struts that come with all of the necessary parts? Thx

The KYB's do not come with any extras. You should replace the strut mounts. Do yourself a favor and buy factory strut mounts. I would also replace the front strut mount bearings. Again, go for factory bearings. You can probably reuse all rubber parts except for the bottom insulators which isolate the coils spring from the strut. The best solution here was devised by Lexmex which is vinyl tubing pushed onto the coil spring. 15-18" will do the trick. Do a search and you will find the thread by Lexmex. I sealed the end gaps between the tubing ID and coil spring OD with RTV to eliminate (or at least minimize) corrosion from our nasty salt roads. Good-luck.

PS For some reason, the rear strut mount comes with a new rubber bellows to protect the strut making the rear strut mounts more expensive. My old bellows were in pretty good shape front and rear so I wasn't too happy about having to buy new rear bellows but what are ya going to do?

Let me echo what ArtBuc says. The only KYB parts you want to buy are the struts themselves; bellows, insulators, and mounts need to be OEM, or the tubing suggested by LexMex for the insulators.

Also, when I did mine I was unable to remove the rear sway bar end links without destroying them, although I was able to reuse the fronts.

Does the suspension support (also called mount) needs to be aligned/position when assembling it on the strut, to make sure it goes back to the hole on the RX and place the nuts. how ?

Thanks (I really love this forum, and people here are very helpful).

Yes, it does to go into the 3 holes at the top, but that shouldn't be hard...are you running into trouble on this?

Hi Lexmex,

not really, I am just preparing for next week. My KYB strut arrives (ordered from AJUSA) already painted black, and the other parts (ordered from mylexparts.com) inclusive of the mount, bearing, insulator, bumper... except spring will come Tuesday. Thanks for tis thread and posting.

I just put KYB GR-2's on one daughter's Olds Intrigue, and I'm planning to do it on the other daughter's RX. Does anyone know the torque settings for all the bolts removed and replaced?

Thanks!

Front:
2x camber bolt nuts (7/8") 155 ftlbf
1x Stabilizer bar link (14mm) 29 ftlbf
1x ABS/Brake hose nut (12mm) 21 ftlbf
3x support mount (14mm) 59 ftlbf
1x strut 36 ftlbf

below are the road blocks I experience,
1. to remove the nut (14mm)on the stabilizer link, I have to hold stabilizer link using vise grip (8mm wide jaw). see photo. allen hex key to hold the thread did not work for me.
2. cannot compress far enough the coil using manual tool, I got to use an impact wrench.

Thanks -- just the numbers I needed. I found a few numbers in a search of the forum, but I didn't find a full torque spec list. Is there one here somewhere?

Great detail, thanks!
I need to take my '99 2WD to a shop to replace all struts, mounts, bearings, rubber, etc. The handling has always been too soft for my tastes, and I'm looking for ways to stiffen up the cornering/leaning. Lexus has not been supportive of handling mods (like larger anti-sway bars) and I have not been able to find anything aftermarket.

Does anyone know of any suggestions to tighten things up?
Are JDM Harrier struts any better than stock, KYB, or Monroe? Any suggestions how to source these properly?
Are the KYB (aftermarket) or Monroe any better than stock (KYB)?
What sources have you found for RX300 suspension mods? Anything like a larger/stiffer sway bars and bushings?

Thanks folks!

I've tried to find a part number for the Silversport's sway (stabilizer) bars, however no luck yet.

Did the Silversport have different bars, or was the only difference in the springs?

Do you (anyone) have a suggestion how I can find part numbers?

Thanks...
