Changing tires...I guess everyone would recommend the Michelin Cross Terrains?

How big of a difference, in terms of milage on the tires themselves, does the tread ware number count towards? Will I lose a good amount of milage life by going with the wider tires? Thanks again for the help everyone

Depends on what you mean by significant. The only thing that you can really discern from those numbers is that the 235 maybe/possibly/might/could have 20% less tread life than the 225 (whatever that might be). But even with that in mind, tread life on a given tire can vary by 30-40% depending on how you drive and the type of driving that you normally do. As well as how diligent you are about maintaining proper pressures, balance and alignment.
All I can really say in absolutes is that, for my wife's driving style in a '99 AWD, the Goodyears were on for 30k (and I might could have gotten another 5k out of them), and the CrossTerrains (225s) have been on for 10k with no visible wear to this point (although I haven't measured tread depth).

I've read of some folks getting considerably more mileage out of theirs (and FC's Dad must be one), but we were down to about 2-3/32" when I replaced them.
I'm religious about tire pressures and rotation. Of course, wifey could be doing 4 wheel doughnuts when I'm not in the car.....otherwise, no explanation.
It's maybe coincidental, but Lexus and Goodyear tires just don't seem to co-exist happily too well. The OE wheel and tire on my SC300 back in 93 was a Goodyear Eagle GA 215/60-15. This tire would go 40-45k on a FWD Pontiac but I only got 23k strictly highway miles out of 2 different sets! The service guys told me they didn't last any longer on LS400s, either. I could understand short life on the Eagle GS-Ds on the 16" wheels, but not on the GAs.
