help: stuck cd changer
Hello all I just purchased a 1999 Rx300.
The CD changer and everything worked great, but this morning an error code came up on the screen. When I went to eject the cartridge it was stuck and would not come out. Is there a trick to this or a manual way to remove the cartridge without damaging the motor inside?
I can hear the motor turning when I press eject but the changer will not move. I also cannot select CD from the main panel now as it thinks the changer is already ejected.
Any thoughts/suggestions would greatly help.
Thank you!

Welcome to CL, Jay!
You've probably tried the obvious, re-seating the cartridge in the player, but nothing else strikes me at the moment. A quick search of this forum turned up a couple of others with this same problem a few years back. One suggestion was to check the fuse (but you say you can hear the motor running in the player). Another was to shut off the car and let it sit about 20 minutes or so before turning the key back on. For some reason that seemed to work on at least two members stuck CD's. I know it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but I can't argue with success.
Use the Search function on the bar at the top of this thread, and select "Advanced Search". I entered CD cartridge stuck into the search argument and selected the RX 300 Forum as the target. You might try a few variations on that theme, or broaden the search to other vehicles to see if you can find an answer in the archives.
With over 50,000 registered members and over five years of information from a WHOLE lot of owners like us, a little digging around in the stacks might produce a few more hints, if not a solution.
Meanwhile, anyone out there with a fresh idea?

Perfect info for me thanks! I didn't realize the search button could be of such help on a forum like this.
The cartridge some how just came out perfectly today, now I am simply getting the error 2 code. I will search and get some more info on this.
Thanks for the tips!
Jay
