When should the RX300's timing belt be replaced? what's the cost?

+2, this engine is interference because it has VVT-I.

Hi,
My RX300 is 1st Gen - 2003.
I got sticker under the bonnet that timing belt was replaced in 2001 at 51k miles (now it has 88k)
What is the schedule here:
every 90k or how many years?

The belt was replaced two years before the car was made??! I assume you meant 2011. It was placed early.

Every 90k miles, or 7 years.

Which means it was technically replaced 1 year late, but not to worry. That's really nothing! lol

Yes, my typing mistake - it was replaced in 2011 not 2001 :-)

So my next replacement is at 141.000 miles or in 2017 :-) - can live with that :-)

I'm over 130K on a 1999 built in 1998 delivered to me on Dec 22 1998 (my xmas present). Would I be jumping the gun by getting it changed now? I don't want to be a "worry wart" and change it to soon.

Yea I wouldn't wait or try to push it, cuz it that belt breaks your looking at a bigger bill

That is why there is a WINK at the end! Don't take life that seriously!!
And if you are right and first post was missed, then there is a good chance that my one is not.

Never the less belt (and rest of bits and pieces) should be immediately replaced.
