Default Battery drain on 2000 RX300

I have searched the forums and cannot find a similar solution to my problem. I experienced a dead battery in December '05 and assumed that it was time to replace it. After replacing the battery, it willl run down completely if not started in a couple of days. Took it back to where I bought it (Sears) and they tested the battery and the charging system and both are okay. No bad cells and no bad alternator. So, it sounds like a battery drain or a short somewhere. There are no lights left on anywhere in the car. All the doors are shut. I have to jump it off to get it started but will restart easily after a drive. But, if I let it sit for 1 or 2 days, the battery is completely drained. Anyone have any suggestions before I have to take it in for service?

If you know somebody with a multi-meter/ammeter, the first thing to do is measure the electrical current being drawn when the car is parked. You would disconnect the positive cable from the battery and put the ammeter/multi-meter between the battery "+" terminal and the battery cable. If it's more than say 100 ma (1.2W) [an educated guess on my part], the next step might be to disconnect fuses until you find the source of the current drain.

Have you checked the rear passenger compartment dome light? Unless it's dark, this one is easy to overlook.
