New source for Type T-iV ATF?
I did a google search for this an came up with:
http://www.mobil.com/USA-English/Lub...l_ATF_3309.asp
According to Mobil Oil Company:
Mobil ATF 3309 is an exceptionally high performance lubricant that meets original equipment manufacturers’ specifications for use in certain slip-controlled lock-up automatic transmissions. Mobil ATF 3309 is recommended for use in transmissions made by Aisin-Warner requiring a fluid approved against Type T-IV, JWS 3309, GM 9986195 and Audi G-052-025-A2. These Aisin-Warner transmissions are used in CERTAIN domestic and foreign vehicles, including Toyota, Lexus, Audi, Saturn, Ford, Volvo, Volkswagen, Saab, Porsche and Mitsubishi.
Has anyone used this?

Mobil ATF 3309 is not synthetic. Most Lexus owners want to better protection of RX's tranny uses Amsoil Synthetic Universal ATF, see the side by side data comparasion of Mobil ATF 3309 vs Amsoil. Note the flash point and viscousity index differences.
http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/atf.aspx
"AMSOIL Synthetic Universal Automatic Transmission Fluid is completely compatible with other synthetic and petroleum automatic transmission fluids. AMSOIL ATF is a universal, multi-functional fluid that greatly reduces the need for specialized fluid inventories and the possibilities of misapplication.
AMSOIL ATF is recommended for transmission, hydraulic and other applications requiring any of the following specifications:
GM DEXRON® II & III
Ford MERCON®, MERCON® V
Chrysler ATF+ through ATF+4®
Honda Z-1 (Not for use in CVT transmissions)
Toyota Type T and T-IV
Mitsubishi/Hyundai Diamond SP II & III
Allison C-3, C-4
Caterpillar TO-2
Voith G607, G1363
ZF TE-ML 14A, 14B & 14C
Mercedes Benz 236.1, 236.6, 236.7, 236.9
BMW 7045E
JWS 3309
Vickers I-286S & M-2950S "
I have searched on Lexus forums and so far have not heard one owner having tranny failure using Amsoil. But others have reported problem using Mobil 1 synthetic ATF. I do not to get into a debate of Toyota T-IV vs Amsoil ATF. Just want to list the spec and what Amsoil publishes.

Mobil 1 ATF just got down here to Mexico. One thing I will say about it is that it is great as a PSF fluid.
I plan to switch over to Amsoil ATF and their oil after I get back from Mexico as there is no distributor down here.

Is there any chance you are an Amsoil Rep? Just curious!
For my first ATF change, i will most likely go with the Toyota stuff. I suspect that the Mobil product is overpriced, although I use their engine oil and diff lubes.

No, I wish I have their commision though. I also use Mobil 1 engine oil and gear oil. Have been using Toyota T-IV for two drain and fills but my powertrain warranty just expired, with lots of research I determined it is my best interest to use Amsoil.

Only other Amsoil product I have used is the fuel injection cleaner, which does great work, but I cannot get it down her anymore.
I currently use the following fluids in my RX
Mobil 1 0W-40 engine oil
Toyota Type-IV synthetic ATF
Valvoline Synpower PSF
Ford Heavy Duty Brake Fluid
Toyota Red Coolant w/ Redline WaterWetter
I also plan to change out the gear oil to Mobil 1 75W-90

Toyota T-IV ATF is not synthetic. Higher flash point is why I bought Amsoil Universal Synthetic ATF. I was on 15k drain and fill interval, hopefully with Amsoil I can follow Lexus' 60k interval without getting burned or black ATF.

Lexmex, I used to believe Toyota T-IV is synthetic, but it is not. I think the new CVT transmission in the new GS uses synthetic since Lexus does not recommend servicing the fluid ever (Yeah right )

I will also drop the tranny pan like you did to clean out the metal debris and put an in-line tranny filter on tranny return line.
