Purchasing a salvaged one is the other viable choice.

Trade in depends upon which dealership you go to. If you go to Lexus, for an older model if the milage is near 90k, most probably they will give you whole-sale value and even will not put it in their lot. If the milage is less, then they will get into working or less than perfect.

Spend your money wisely as you may not get all of it back.

Good luck getting bluebook wholesale on a 99 RX300 right now. That's about $6000-$8000. Dealers will probably offer you less than 1/2 that in the current automotive economic climate.

Use Velcro. The same color as your interior. Here's the "hot tip". Use the sew on Velcro and fabric-upholstery glue. The "As Seen on TV, Mend It" works very well. Be extremely careful. Once it stuck, its stuck!! In 2 hours its dry. In 24 hours its forever.
Also use the best Velcro that you can find. No discount store stuff. Only professional grade. You want this to last for many years.

My attempt to the fix:

1). Apply supper glue to both end of the thing so it will not free spin any more(let it dry overnight).
2). put tape on it to make it bigger and harder to drop.

Cause I'm fed up with that damn visor, funny mine holds when against the windshield but not against the headliner

Mine aren't quite that bad yet, but I can't imagine the day I need to use that solution for visors on a Lexus, . . ... nice solution to an unfortunate problem.

Found it earlier tonight and haven't seen any mention of it in the threads I've found here so wanted to offer it as an option. I'm waiting to become registered so I can see the picture someone posted of where to crimp the visor.

Thanks much for posting that, it looks from there that one could just crimp that aluminum area from the outside with a cloth over the area, without opening it up as you did?

Rare earth super magnet. Problem solved. Mining and prospecting store, about 30 bucks, don't get 2 near each other, never get them apart. Avoid computer or magnetic sensitive items.

What a temptation to make a joke about metal plates in head, LOL. Seriously, don't want to offend... Just stick one on the back side of the visor. The uphostery in the head liner is a bit thick, but a super magnet has enough power to hold the visor to the roof. May have to move it around a bit to find the most effective position. No cutting, no dirt marks. The store should let you try it out before buying. Mine works great, and I have others for like when I want to stick a temporary sign to my car door.
