Question

Wish I could figure out how to change my name from "lexuswannabe" to "lexusbe," but some other time. . .

I'd like to get a hitch for my new RX, for the sole purpose of putting on a bike rack. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go for a hitch? I did stop at U-haul today, but I'm not sure that's the best place to go. Suspect the Lexus dealership would be incredibly expensive, but of course I'll give them a try, as well.

Are there different kinds of hitches? Are some more visible than others?

And as for bike racks, any opinions? I know I can fit our bikes in the rear, but for long trips, I don't think our dog would appreciate it.

For the above purpose, Non Lexus brand should be fine. Essentially you are bolting on a welded metal structure. Holes must match, structure must be able to fit and the welds should be of good quality.

On the other hand if you need to connect with the electrical (night time run lights, brake, turn and hazard) you need to get an isolator. The Lexus hitch comes with the isolator and no splice connectors to the rear light assembly. Need to unbutton the rear trim. 2-3 hrs DIY project.
