???!!!!! Ran Out Of Gas!!
Ok, it was a sunny beautiful afternoon and my gas low light has been on for 2 days, i wasnt thinking much of it because i ran 210 miles on that tank of gas. Usually on most hi-way driving i get about 240 miles to a tank. So i brushed it off the ran out of gas idea and went to lunch. Sudddenly, after i made a u-turn, the car wont surge forward when i stepped the gas. I know that all to familiar feeling, this has happened a couple times in my life so i was like oh-*****! After coasting the car to a stop the engine stopped with the electrics on. After a little less than an hour, road-side came and gave me a gallon of gas. Moral of the story : im stupid and this thing drinks gas like we go thru our favorite drink, somethimes i swear i fill up more than i drive it. Pretty sad, i hope that hybrid is gonna solve all this. 200+ miles to a tank of gas is just too much. Maybe i should get a normal car next time.

1. You have a gas gauge.
2. You have a sound that chimes when your gas gets low.
3. You have a low gas warning light that gives you a generous amount of time to get gas.
A car has no personality, it is a dumb machine and it is only as smart as its owner. Stop blaming the car and take some responsibility for your actions.

As for 300+ miles on a tank! I wish I was getting that, Im only around 275 a tank....My 4Runner gets better gas mileage than my 330? Im just hoping it will get better---its only got 1000 miles on it.

Your low gas mileage might have something to do with your tires. Those performance tires tend to be "stickier" thus have higher rolling resistance.

You do realize its very bad to run out of gas. Not een mentioning the engine backfire as a result of running out of gas repeatedly, but you do realize a fuel pump is cooled by the gas its submerged in... and the "fuel low" light is triggered when it begins to overheat. A fuel pump that is frequently overheated is far more likely to break.
I always keep at least 1/8-1/4 of a tank.

I wouldn't be surprised if you'll be getting more better mileage and more to a tank as your 3MZ-FE is fully broken in. If your 4Runner is the new current gen, 1GR-FE 4.0V6 or the 2UZ-FE 4.7 V8 or even the old 5VZ-FE 3.4 V6, it will not get the mileage of a 3MZ-FE V6. The 3.3L and the old 3.0 1MZ-FE V6 are very fuel efficient.

Flip.
My 4runner is a 99 with the 3.4L it has 77K miles on it so its fully broken in I sure hope my 330 gets better as the miles get on it!! I know 1000 is a bit low but I was expecting at least in the 20's as a start......
The 330 sure is a smooth quite vehicle though! I love it

John, just a thought here, but if you recall all your stories about fast driving and all the tickets you've collected - your low mileage just might be related to your driving. No, the hybrid won't help you a bit - but if you're really concerned about your fuel consumption, SLOW DOWN! That right pedal has more than two positions, you know.

Just quick Question, Would anybody know how much gas is left in the tank when the gas light goes on? would it be more than 1 gallon? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

2 gallons?
I think for most, if not all cars, the light is set so that you have about a 25-35 mile range of fuel left. Enough to get you to the next gas station, unless you're in the middle of the desert. On my '99 RX, when I go to fill right when the light comes on, I only need 15 gallons or so. That means there should be 2 gallons left. On my Integra, the light comes on with about 1.5 gallons left.
I would imagine the light won't be set to come on when it's almost bone dry with a 5 mile range. What would be the use of that if you're on an interstate between exits.
