Lost all keys to RX300
Well basically I lost the valet key and my sister lost the master key to my parents car. No more keys at all. 99 RX300. From what I have been reading it seems the only way you can get the car started/reprogramming transponder is by having the master key. So are we SOL? Anyone have any clue or any suggestions besides replacing the ECU? Thanks for the help or advice.

AFAIK, there's no master key. You need to know the secret 5-digit key code for the vehicle, which is given to owner at the time of sale. The dealer cannot order and program new keys without it. VIN number won't do.

RX300 Keys
I just purchased a 2001 RX300. And was given 3 keys. Two master keys with remotes. And one Valet key with just a plastic end. I had to buy the flat key. All they needed was the VIN number. Took about a week. Never heard of a secret 5 number.

The 5 didgit code that comes on the little piece of metal with a new car is the Key Code#, it isnt the transponder code (thats only stored in the ECU)
Of course, a new key will do nothing to help you because of the Transponder system.
you unfortunately have few options.
1. Order new keys & ECU (Big bucks, but instant gratification)
2. Contact Lexus and see if they will goodwill you an ECU (Lexus may pay for the ECU, but you pay keys + labor)
3. Find (google) a locksmith that the tools to reset / flash the ECU and reset the transponder code. (This is the cheapest way out)
4. Find missing master key and spend nothing.
Good luck!
