How low can the dealer go ?
I've got my sale price negotiated $500 above invoice .
However, my friend told me his *dealer sales rep* can most likely do even better ?
When price negotiating, is it even possible for a dealer to sell BELOW their invoice costs...
I'm currently gettng the invoice price off Edmunds, KBB, etc.

I used to sell new cars for Lexus, and at our dealership (and all dealerships that I know of) there is NO way to get a car below invoice. $500 over is a very good deal ... the dealership must have really wanted you to buy a car. The only Lexus model I know that goes for that low it the ES line. Either way, from working at a dealership in the past, I saw an average of $1,000 to $1,500 over invoice. However, like I said before, you can get it for lower if your good.

chefwong - It depends what region you are in, the vehicle options you want, and time of the month. Also, from what I've heard, they're not giving as big of discounts on ones with the navigation system.
The range of quotes I got in my state (Florida) alone were from near invoice to as high as 2000 over invoice depending on the region. I just purchased (RX 330, fwd, premium, rear power, wood, towing) from my local Lexus dealer for 35,300 plus tax and tag (no dealer fee). My out the door price came to 37,633 with tax (7%) and a new tag (not a tranfer).
I should mention, it was not easy to get this price from my local dealer, and I was only able to do so after convincing him that I was able to purchase the same vehicle further down south for 300 less. I actually had two quotes (one written) from dealers a few hours south that were willing to sell me the vehicle for 35k, plus tax and tag.
To note: my lowest quotes came from dealers that were just one or two car away from making their monthly quota near the end of last month (June). All in all, what I've learned from my shopping experience, is that how low the dealer can go will be dependent on a number of different factors that can change at any given moment. Good luck with your deal.

It's unlikely to see a new RX sold under invoice though. (Unless it's a hail sale or trout sale.)

I'm pretty sure we got our RX300 below invoice. But then again, we picked ours up the week before the RX330's came out. Lexus had an additional $1500 incentive on the vehicle at the time.
Actually, here in So Cal, checking carsdirect.com right now, it show's RX330s at $100 under invoice. But then again, most cars sell for less here in So Cal.

My local dealer "claims" to be selling RX 330s right now for invoice. They've got 50 on the lot and are trying to move them. I got a fantastic deal on a used 2000 RX 300 last week (I'm a new member to ClubLexus) because it was the last day of the month, the last day of the first half of the calendar year, the last hour before closing time and because the salesman needed one more sale to meet his monthly quota and get his bonus. I only wish I had a little more expendable cash so I could have seen how well I could've done on a 330 instead of a 300! By the way...I LOVE MY RX 300!
