Already replaced with my father's help holding the liftgate up.

I didn't take apart anything in the new strut.
Just aligned and put the bolts in.

Not used to forcefully closing the hatch lol

Tailgate shocks replaced

I also replaced mine. It still opens slowly, but it opens all the way to the top. Also, easier to close.

Simple fix with new shocks (about $40), but be sure you have someone to hold up the gate while replacing.
