RX300 Heated Seats problem
Our 2001 RX300 seems to have a problem with the heated seats. Up until recently they have always worked, and never seemed to turn off. However, as of late, the seats turn on and then turn off at different times. Some mornings the "high" button for the heat doesn't even work. Sometimes "high" heats for 5 minutes before they shut off (completely) sometimes 9 minutes, etc.
The dealer said there is a thermostat that turns the seats completely off once a predetermined temperature is reached in the seats. I swear that I have driven for 3+ hours on a road trip with the seats on high the whole time without them turning off.
Anyone have any ideas???

My experience is consistent with the presence of a thermostat.
I've never paid attention to the exact timing, but I do know that the heater turns off (or at least turns down) after a while, even when set to high. My commute is over an hour one way, and I don't think I've ever felt the heater running the entire time. There have been days where it comes back on and I notice it again.
This behavior is the same in the 330 as in the 300. New in the 330 is a variable **** control as opposed to the tri-state low / off / high switch, and the heater also extends into the lower portion of the seat back.

Pole Position
Our MY2000 does have a thermostat. The seats are the old style that only has an on/off feature as opposed to a multi level approach but the seats heat up and automatically turn themselves off when the temp. gets to a certain point. They then turn themselves back on when they cool down sufficiently so long as the button is activated.
