ztorc: thanks for testing out the nano fusion for us. Let us know how it holds up. As for opticoat, the DIY version is not warranted the same as the version that is professionally installed (using sprayers). Also, professionals will opticoat over the clear film, so when you said you did "the rest," perhaps you made a mistake there. I think you should do the whole thing.

You are correct. The DIY opti-coat is not the same as the professional one. It does create a thin film over the clear coat to protect the paint. I applied it to the rest of the car except the front end. I just used the sealant over the nano fusion. I'll let you know how nano fusion will hold up. So far it is looking pretty good.

I've had 5 Lexus' and they all chip easily, but this is my first clear bra.
Glad to read your positive comments about the 3M Pro film. I have an appointment to have the front of my car wrapped this weekend with the same film.

Forgive the GS guy, but I have XPel and CQuartz Finest on my car and it is absolutely fantastic. I get the paint protection from the XPel, but the CQuartz maintenance is easy as well. Because the CQuartz is on top of the XPel, all I need is some Hydro2 every couple of months to maintain the shine and slickness.

LOOKING FOR HELP IN NJ

I got a quote from a reputable shop in mamaroneck ny using the 3m film for hood, mirrors, fenders and bumper for $1600 and with rocker panels another $400, so $2000 for hood, fenders, bumper mirrors , rocker.

Seems much higher than what I see others paying .

Thanks for any help

The car comes with self healing paint, I tried to get a reply from Lexus about this but they never said anything about it. My worry is if you have 2 of the same thing will they cause issues?

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...oat-paint.html

■ Self-restoring coat*
The vehicle body has a self-restoring coating that is resistant to small surface scratches
caused in a car wash etc.
● The coating lasts for 5 to 8 years from when the vehicle is delivered from the plant.
● The restoration time differs depending on the depth of the scratch and outside temperature.
The restoration time may become shorter when the coating is warmed by applying
warm water.
● Deep scratches caused by keys, coins, etc. cannot be restored.
● Do not use wax that contains abrasives.
*: CFRP parts (if equipped) do not have a self-restoring coat

I got my bra (Xpel) done at Lee Burbs in Hillsborough. You can find his work on his FB page here Great guy who works on tons of high end cars. At the very least it can give you an idea about the 3M pricing

A local shop (SoCal) quoted me $1,400 for full hood, full fenders, mirrors, front bumper and headlights (for either 3M Pro or Xpel Ultimate).

That's a good price.

I'm going for just the partial hood and fenders (3M) at that same shop for $650. I just can't justify over double the price for the full hood and fenders. They also agreed to include the door cups for the $650. Getting it done tomorrow.

I agree. 1600 for the hood /mirrors / fenders /bumpers seems like good protection, but would cost be to just repaint same panels if needed ? Gotta be pretty similar price?
