I tried it outside and it works great, but i didn't test the distance while doing it from outdoors.
When I tried to remote start the car from inside my office it would not work with just the remote as the glass was the issue. Outside, however, was a different story and the best I did was about 100 feet. From inside the office I use the App, and it starts every time.
