Lexus is preparing a small SUV concept for the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, a model that will slot in underneath its existing RX SUV.
At the recent 2013 Detroit Motor Show, executive vice president of Lexus International, Kazuo Ohara, confirmed that the Japanese automaker is working on a small SUV and feels that it’s a necessity to continue expanding the brand internationally.
The exec also confirmed that a concept will debut later this year Lexus is hoping that it’ll be at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show which kicks off in late November.
Details are sparse, but the smallish SUV could be based on the Toyota RAV4 but feature the new generation of Lexus styling that has been so prominent on all its new models, including the recently debuted 2014 IS.

I think the Lexus RC/RC-F will appear at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. 2nd and 3rd gen IS sedan did.
GS-F sedan could appear at the LA Auto Show...???
I have a feeling that Toyota will save Tokyo for the Midsize BMW/Toyota sports car (rumored MK5 Supra).

The gray car in the garage is not an uncovered RC - it is indeed a GS, probably GS F. The bumpers on the gray car (GS) and camo-ed cars are different - RC is much thicker, GS is slimmer. Shapes are different also.
As spwolf and natnut have pointed out, this car will ride on the GS/IS platform (remember that they are built on the same chassis), not any stretched GT86 architecture. From what I understand, the RC will be positioned between the IS and GS, similar to how the Audi A5 sits between the A4 and A6 as Audi's tweener/midsize coupe. Will it be closer to IS or GS in size and execution? I have no idea, but I think this car's most direct competitor will be the A/S/RS5, not the 4 series.
I do believe that what we are looking at here is RC F, not an F Sport model as some have indicated. All of the cues are there - quad exhaust, fender vents, brakes, LFA Nurburgring spec wheels, LFA-inspired front bumper, etc.
It makes sense to assume that Lexus is finishing the GS F while developing the RC F as both cars sit on the same platform and thus, will share engines and other components. Considering that, and the previous rumors that GS F will have a 461hp V8, I would assume the same from the RC F.
This does bring up a few other questions, namely:
1) When will the GS F debut?
2) Will the IS F get the same 461hp V8 as the GS and RC? That would be odd.
3) If Lexus is to debut the RC at Tokyo, I wonder if the NX will be pushed back? Or would they do a double model introduction? Interesting...

That ~$70k figure I threw out was for a fully loaded car.
Today's 416 hp 2013 IS-F is $66,724 fully loaded, do you think a 460 hp 2015 RC-F with bigger everything and newer tech will cost less?
That's why I had an ~approx in front of the $70k, so it might not be $70k, just $69,998

Most definitely.
They might unrestrict it a bit for 475~500 hp...........but same basic engine overall. Just like what AMG did with the 6.2L M156 V8, same engine in the 450 hp C63, 507 hp E63, 510 hp C63 Black Series and 518 hp S63...........even the 589 hp M159 in the SLS GT is not ALL THAT different.

The other thing is, if you look at the last picture in this series, look at the right rear bumper. It looks like it's hiding something underneath it as it shows a bump that's abruptly cut off. It almost looks like there's a vent coming off of the rear bumper behind the rear wheel. I would say similar to how the front fenders have the vents. Even though the vents were non-functional on the IS-F, maybe they'll be functional this time around and maybe the rear bumpers will also have some functional vents.
