In California, they will not ask as the front license plate is required. I always tell the salesman that no holes are to be drilled in the front bumper because there will be no front plate. On my first GS, there was a sign hanging from the rear view mirror saying to not mount the front plate holder or drill any holes. Made me laugh that my salesman took my request to that degree. The alternative, as I told him, would be a new front bumper.

I am not sure about the rest of the Lexus network in the USA but my salesperson asked me for my druthers and I said no.

Yes I've seen those and would like to see a pic when you get it done. The only concern I'd have is any reduction of ground clearance. As it is, at stock ride height I scrape over even modest speed bumps unless I move at anything more than a snail's pace.

Exactly how I learned my lesson with that type of plate mount.
adding 2.5 inches to the front lip just didn't work for me, but does for some people.
My driveway = lip killer.

My dealer asked. I said no plate and was asked to sign a waiver stating that I understood this was in violation of state law. I subsequently put the plate on the front.
