Let's also not forget that the RCF stood out in Road & Track's Motown Mile run, trumping the M4 and the RS5 on the course with faster times.

Let's also not forget that the Road and Track times you keep on referring to of the RCF and M4 were not done on the same day , where as on the same day the RCF and M3 were tested under the same same conditions by R&T the M3 was faster.

Both are great cars.

You mean 3 great cars. The M3 was faster. Whether the road was hot or cold, wet or dry, etc., these are the results. There will always be environmental factors and driver skills influencing performance metrics. Admittedly, this is not the most scientific approach.

Motown mile is an extraordinarily rough and bumpy old small airport runway. It is very difficult to put down good lap times on cars with fixed non-adjustable/adaptive suspension.

I believe they said the M4 was too stiff for such a bumpy surface and struggled at every corner.
