IPhone 4s and text/email messages

Is the 4s iPhone compatible with the cars in screen text message capability? My Honda I traded was not and when I go to the setup as per the manual I'm not seeing any way to set it up

iPhone > Settings > Bluetooth > RC/F > Blue Info Button > Show Notifications ON

Note there is no reply feature with iPhone though Lexus's equipped with Siri Eyes Free will be able to reply to messages
