RCF Related? "Controversial Statements" Contribute to Clarkson's Official Firing
You can read between the lines for yourselves. I suspect his misrepresentation of the RCF WAS NOT taken lightly by Lexus executives who extended the car to Clarkson for an objective "review" and not a travesty drive.
I believe the firing was a long time coming. The assault on the producer and his ridiculous treatment of certain manufacturers' products sealed the casket. I also believe this was a Lexus product defamation lawsuit in the making--another Tesla-like case.
I would expect to see an objective RCF review in the future. I would like to see Hammond and May carry on, but that too remains to be seen.

"Although Clarkson is expected to leave the BBC, the broadcaster says it plans to renew "Top Gear" for 2016. It's unclear whether Clarkson's co-hosts on the show, Richard Hammond and James May, will continue working on "Top Gear" if the show is renewed next year. Even before this alleged assault, Clarkson was reportedly on his "final warning" from the BBC after repeated complaints over controversial statements made during the show."

Really??? Lexus is the Illumunati now and will get you fired if you trash their product?
No need to read between the lines. Being an azz will get you fired, has little to do with work product.

There is no secret society here.
Product defamation is no joke. I would not be surprised if there was not legal positioning on the part of Lexus after that episodic BS. This is obviously not the first time Jeremy chose poorly.

I am sure the RCF misrepresentation factored into the equation. I can't believe Lexus' legal eagles took that one lying down. Clarkson costs TG plenty in legal fees over the Tesla debacle.

Sorry, but I totally disagree. Not remotely related, couldn't be further off base from the reason he was fired.

Yes...I would not underestimate a response from Lexus--not because of a negative review on any car in particular, but because it was an intentional misrepresentation of product's capability--even given the lunacy of TG.
If I were heading up marketing at Lexus, I would have had my attorneys all over it--my perspective.
