i know in the C7 after 500 miles the rev limiter changes to the full range. A guy recorded a video of it changing and put it on youtube.

My uncles 2015 Z06 has a break in period and you'll get that extra juice after about 500-1000 miles, this may be the case.

My 2012 ISF changed character after approximately 700+ miles. I presume this is programmed into the cars, but I have no proof.

It's all there. Just give it time to lap up some miles and learn your driving patterns.

Has anyone else experience this with their RC-F off the lot, and did you notice an improvement over the next hundred miles?

It almost feels like something is restraining the power, a bottleneck.

BTW the highest octane in my country is 93, perhaps the ECU is is still calibrating?

The new RC F that I test drove with 5 miles on it in sport+ mode accelerated with gusto--no glaring restraint in power delivery.

I test drove a new one and the acceleration was definitely there...

M4 = 405 lb/ft @ 1850rpm. ~3550lbs. RCF = 389 lb/ft @ 4800rpm. ~3950lbs

BMW grossly underrates their power figures too, not sure about Lexus. Nonetheless, simple math is the explanation to why the RCF doesn't "feel" fast.

What it feels and does are at variance: the carbon is 2-3 tenths off of the M4; the RC -F has three times demonstrated superiority on the track, and it has a higher top end speed of 170 versus the M4's 155. The M4 appears to be significantly flawed on the track as a result of unmanageable boost and excessive oversteer.

Update:

I went to the dealer again and asked to drive the RC-F once more. This time I immediately switched to Sport+ and traction off, and it was showing "Expert mode"

0-100kph time was 4.5s with a passenger, so everything is good. I did a couple WOT 2nd and 3rd gear pulls, WOW, what a difference compared to Sport and traction ON. The lack of power I was describing earlier was completely gone!

However, while the RC-F doesn't feel fast, it is actually deceptively fast, in my first launch I remember going through 2 gears and when I looked up I was already going 120kph, the second time I paid more attention to the speed and let the beeping guide the shift and took the time with my phone.

Everything about this car is superb, the noise, the handling, the interior!!! I can't wait until the end of the month for the deliver, it's a White/Red TVD. So excited

good NA engines dont have the pin you in the seat feeling like turbos do but the speed unexpectedly builds up. It is deceptive. Turbo can feel a lot faster even though its similar

Just remember that peek power on this is at redline so you have to shift at redline to get the most out of it, sounds like you did that this time.

I had the same issues with my old M5 and NSX when people drove it and shifted 1/2 way up the redline

It's not a American V8 where peek power is 1/2 way to the redline lol.

One of my office colleagues has a 1989 RX7 Turbo 2 felt a lot faster than my 2ZZ-GE XRS when I took a ride in it. Both cars make about the same horsepower (around 190 - 200 HP). Weigh about the same around 2650 lbs. Although, his RX7 Turbo 2 makes a lot more torque at low rpms while my car revs 1400 rpm higher (7000 rpm vs 8400 rpm), but has only 130 ft-lbs of torque. Mine is FWD and his is RWD. He also had a firm belief that his car was much quicker as my car was "torqueless" and could not hang.

When we did a drag race for kicks, I completely destroyed him after 2nd gear. I was shocked and did not expect that considering how much quicker his car "felt".
