we havent seen any break out victories for either car. That means more of a victory for the RCF which should've been killed when looking at specs on paper. Waiting to see a decisive victory by the M but whys it taking so long if it was so decisive.
What I'm waiting for is probably what will happen.
Two drivers, same track. One driver has better skills than the other.
Better driver will win in the the M and then switch cars and win in the RCF.
this is what i think too. i think the two cars are very close (that's compliment to both cars) and it's matter of driver and more important a choice between preference on features / styling, etc...
M4 should beat the RCF in the hands of a highly experienced driver. However, in the hands of a novice or intermediate (which 99.999% of us are) they would be able to reach a higher level in the RCF. Even the reviewer in the article said after driving the M he needed to rest.
Read this parapraph again before any imaginary claims of superiority.
"These are not conditions that bode well for the M4"
Good read nonetheless, hope the comparos keep coming for the very equal cars.
This is somehow an irrelevant statement from the magazine if its true. Why is it not "bad" for RC-F or Audi ? A good car "handles well" in snow, thunderstorms and on dry summer roads. Of course there is an huge advantage for Audi , but it should at least be equally worse for Lexus. It should handle a lot worse in this kind of conditions as well. Note that RC-F and M4 had the same tyres in this test
All cars faces this kind of weather ( nothing extreme at all in this case ), and its raining every other day even during spring/summer/autumn in Europe ( where this test was made ) So you could actually use the perfomance of the M3/4 every second week or so Thats simply not good enough, they are still normal road cars based on family cars, not F1 racers.

I saw a video on You-Tube by Motor Trend they had a M4 vs RCF shootout on the streets of Willow a 1.55 mile track both cars driven by Randy Pobst M4 time 01:23.73 RC-F time 01:24.05
Randy had his hands full with the M4 and looked more relaxed in the RC-F .
Yes on a track in the hands of a pro like Randy the BMW is faster marginally in a one lap shootout.
Run 10 laps and the turbos start to heat and the computer pulls timing it may be a different story as a FI car usually loses more power than a NA car.
To balance it out however is the extra 400lbs the RCF is carrying will cause the tires and brakes to overheat faster than the BMW.
I agree with the quote above the RC-F will be an easier car for the average driver to handle at speed.
What I'm waiting for is probably what will happen.

We have read more than once that the M4 is difficult to manage and unsettling with regard to the driver experience. Did BMW rush this car to market?
I am not interested in any car that is unmanageable at high speed. My idea of engagement with a car is not to ward off a Sumo wrestler at each turn of the wheel.
We are also seeing more lap times favoring the RC-F. Yes, we will see what follows.
I believe the order HAS been changed--time and testing will tell.

Probably not. There are many pretty easy ways to reduce/limit torque , if thats what causes this behaviour. MB has made this for at least a decade on AMG engines and I know many other turbo cars ( petrol and diesels ) that have/had reduced torque output in lower gears, which also saves the gearbox.
