The second plug is roadside assistance!

It's not being used here to drive from PA to Texas.

Do you know the wheel and tire size of the spare?

I was hoping we could revisit this issue. Has anyone bought a spare for the RCF? Source?

In other CL forums people have used Hyundai spares or a Mustang spare. Has anyone found anything like this?

If someone could post the specs of their spare that would be helpful. Depth? inside height?

Does the RC sport have a spare or use the inflation system like we have?

Carnevino

Did you come up with a real tire and wheel spare solution?

I am interested for long road trips (back roads) and track days.

I see people suggested the following but did anyone buy and try either?

225/40ZR19 or space saver spare, size T155/70d17

My Lexus parts guy does not show anything listed for RC-F and we know
they have them in Guam shipments.

Much better to just have a tire repair kit and compressor IMO. Keep in mind the crappy Lexus compressor does NOT work to just inflate tires, so better ditch it. Plus if you use the 'goop', you'd need a new tire pressure sensor ($$). Just an FYI. If you're careful where you tread, it's extremely unlikely you'll have a non-repairable flat. And if that happens, that's what roadside assistance is for.

Thanks for the reminder about the goop in the tire pressure sensor.

I already bought a repair kit (insert tool and plugs)

But I have had problems in the past with having to wait for hours for roadside assistance due to being a remote location and was once in a place in Colorado (Trail Ridge road) where there was no cell reception and I could not get a call placed.

For daily driver no problem, I would just leave the full spare in the garage and do like you suggest and carry a repair plug kit and a regular 12v air compressor.

I tried to get some order info from Lexus Customer Sat and dont have any recommendation from them except to use the GOOP. I sent them images of what Lexus ships to Guam. (225/40ZR19 and wheel and trunk cover for it).

I ordered a Camry spare. I run spacers so it should clear the brake assembly.
Same bolt pattern.

Has anyone thought about the IS F space saver spare rim & tire???

It might just clear the 15" front brakes.. Although IS F is only 14.2"

Based on your IS knowledge, do you think a
IS F-sport wheel PTR45-53082 19x9-40 would
work as a spare on my RC-F. I can not find any
dimension drawings for the IS wheel part number. I see that you said
the offset for the front RC-F is 50 and rear is 41.

My Lexus service guy has this wheel and would sell it to me at a good price.

It is clearly larger than a donut. But I would just be using it
for track days and remote road trips not daily and RC-F traction control might not be bothered at all since its a full diameter tire.

Best thing he can do is help you test fit on front & rear to verify fitment..

Besides dimensions it also comes down to inner wheel face design and barrel steps..

For example RC F's in Guam get a 2012+ Front 19x8.5" wheel w/ 45+ Offset on a 225/40 tire

Thanks, after your response, I went to the dealer this morning and they tried to mount the
used IS F-sport wheel PTR45-53082 19x9-40.

It fails. Would need at least a 1" spacer which I dont want to use.

FYI: The local Lexus parts department looked up the part numbers used on the Guam model that I gave him thanks to ChuH in Guam.
Wheel Hold Down Screw: pn 51900-24050 $21.93
Black Spare Wheel: pn 212611-24790 This number is incorrect, it probably should be
42611-24790 $1500.55
Luggage Area Wheel Cover: pn 64722-24180-C1 $381.26

I’m not comfortable driving around without a spare tire either, so I had to get creative with some non-Lexus parts that would allow a donut to clear the front calipers. Using a spare tire & wheel from a 2015 Audi A4 (part number 8K0 601 027 F, plus a 125/70-19 tire) with an adapter spacer from Motorsport Tech, I now have a perfectly functional spare that fits in the factory well under the trunk floor. A few notes:

· The wheel & tire was around 550 CD$ at the local Audi dealer. Wolf Auto Parts might be a cheaper option depending on where you need it shipped to.

· The spacer was $85 plus shipping, including both sets of lugs. Its 32mm thick, which allows the outside face to clear the factory studs completely. I ordered it hub-centric to the Lexus and wheel-centric to the A4 wheel, but the spare wheel has a larger center bore than the 66.56mm spec on the regular A4 wheels. After a careful install there wasn’t any vibration on my 60 mph test run, but having the proper center bore measurement prior to ordering would be best.

· You’ll need a 19mm socket and a 18” breaker bar for both sets of lugs, which is smaller than the factory wrench that lives in the trunk. Princess Auto, Harbor Freight, etc……

· Fitting the adapter on the front will require a brace to tighten it. The 2x4 in the pic fits inside / under the wheel when I put it in the trunk.

· There’s a spare wheel tie-down bolt you can get from Lexus for around $50, but a 4” M8-1.25 coarse thread bolt should work just fine with a metal brace of some sort across the wheel. Haven’t got to this part yet….

This was a bit of a process, but at least now I’m not at the mercy of roadside assistance, and I still have full use of the trunk. This beats the stuff I’ve seen from Guam in other posts – that “hump” is just plain nasty!

Thanks. I will look into that. Since I have extra sets of tires I keep the front tire (no rim) in my trunk as a precaution. I recently flatted and it was temporarily reparied but if it couldn't been repaired the store did not have any 19s to fit.

Another option. Find a used RCF rim on eBay or a single aftermarket rim. I threw on my original summer tire I had taken off.
