Default Cerritos Lexus Needs Better Trained Sales Personnel

I received an email from a local Lexus Dealer with the message that they just received the new RC-F....whoo hoo! Email asked that I reach out to the Sales Rep (not to be named) when I arrived to discuss the new car. So I was able to squeeze out some time during my lunch hour to head down to Cerritos Lexus and asked for the Rep & while I was waiting there was an RC 350 F-Sport parked in the lobby. So the Rep greets me and ask how I liked the car. I responded, its really nice but can I take a look at the RC-F. He responds, "What do you mean? This is it." I told him that this was the RC F-Sport and & would like to see the RC-F. He looked confused and condescendingly replied, "the F is right there on the fender, F stands for F-Sport. What are you talking about?" I just shook my head.
So the guy went back to his office and then came back & said ok, let me show you the car. We went to the back of the dealership, walked the whole lot and he couldn't find the vehicle. I was pretty fed up by this time & just left.

but the RC-350 F-Sport did look nice, it was the blue color

Wow! How do these guys get hired? A lot of salesmen have no clue what theyre even talking about. Its surprising and misleading at the same time. A guy like me probably would be overlooked due to my appearance, but I could at least identify different Lexus models and tell you their features.

it is not really a high paying position... some of them make good money, a lot of them are constantly changing jobs.

True.
My dealership constantly has changes in staff in every dept.
Most Lexus dealers have staff listed on their website but mine doesn't no doubt for that reason.

All you have to do is look at social media (especially instagram) to see how widespread this issue is - several dealerships posted they just received their first Lexus RC F (and in the picture is a RC 350 F-sport.

Geez, that's embarrassing for that dealer.

Same for technicians....

There are some dealerships that have barely ever seen an IS F or LFA

it's disheartening, but true. the salespeople might as well be selling dishwashers for all they care. i'm sure there are many exceptions, but the vast majority aren't enthusiasts like us. that's why i bought my last car through cartelligent. hopefully the experience pre-ordering with Lexus (my first Lexus) will be different

Im a good salesman Ive sold a lot of different products. Where Im from, you keep your job if youre good at it. If someone is at the dealership looking at cars, theyre there to buy. Its best to know what the customer is talking about.
