Default hood scoop costmetic or functional

The hood scoop is open, barely, to the engine for functional or appearance purposes? What your opinion? Hot air does come out of it a bit after i park the car, but does it do any benefit for the performance while driving is the question. Compared to the large openings for the oil and transmission cooler, the opening on the hood is dismal. Wished Lexus would made it into an actual air intake

They wouldn't waste time and money with it if it wasn't functional. I assume air flow in and out.

I checked mine, looks functional as well as the side fenders, looks awesome while doing its job! No fakes here!

If it's very important performance wise, why doesn't GSF have it? I know I know obvious answer is a toned down look. But the GSF has all the other vents for heat dissipation

you can remove the plastic cover from underneath the scoop very easily. It will provide more air flow, but more rain water would also get in.......might not be a big deal.

I pulled mine out a year ago when I got my car, I get it washed weekly and tons of water pours in also it's a DD and sits in all weather and had 0 issues. Also I can see lots of heat coming out of it at red lights so I know it's working.

The stock thing sucks it has about a 1 inch hole in it and that's only to drain water out of it so I would say as stock it's looks only. Also if you drive it hard I would pull the motor cover off as well as it's a huge heat blanket.

Need I show you the list of Toyotas (not to mention other brands) with non-functional hood scoops? They waste the time and money on it all the time, haha.

Not saying the RC-F one is non-functional, but well... they do it.

Are you still on SF and SM? It's been forever since I've been to either one.

I don't post much, but yeah I still visit. SM doesn't have much going on these days and SF is still being SF.
